Eating your way through the tough times

After this year’s terrible, exhausting US election, a lot of people are in a panic about how the next four years will go under president-elect Donald Trump.

I personally was not a huge fan of Clinton, mostly because of her foreign policy, so I was surprised to find how physically upset I was when she conceded. Sometimes I’m okay but then a few minutes later I’m in full-on panic mode. It feels like a really bad break up. It’s going to be tough, but we’re all going to get through this together.

The best advice anyone ever gave me is to treat yourself like you were your own mother when things get bad. Comfort food is great and all but a diet of snickers bars and macaroni and cheese is no way to live.

Over the next few weeks or so, The Yellow Lunch Box is here for you with a series of homey, healthy recipes that have helped me get through rough patches. And maybe a few not-so-healthy things.

In the meantime, please take care of yourself. Drink water and make sure to go outside while the sun is up. Remember, we’re all human beings deserving of love.

We’ll be okay.
