Hiatus

After recent political developments in the United States, I have decided to put The Yellow Lunch Box on hiatus. Some of President Trump’s policies have directly affected my family and I need to devote my personal time to sorting out the mess.

Beyond that, I’ve found that reading food blogs these days only sparks a raw sadness at how irrelevant it all seems. Like many others, I am having a difficult time focusing on work, let alone cooking or eating. I definitely don’t care about your most garlicky dishes, or if New York thinks burritos are sandwiches.

Though I believe that cooking can be a political act, this blog as it currently exists is not what the right-now needs.

It’s time to regroup.

I hope to return soon with a sharp new angle that can be of more use in this era. In the meantime, stay safe, don’t forget to eat, and good luck to us all.

  1. So sorry you have to go through this. In today’s news ICE is invading sanctuary cities such as Austin and making people prove they are legal. On Hwy 183 they are stopping every car and asking for proof of legality. They are waiting outside grocery stores, burger joints. Yesterday ICE netted 30 people. They usually average 3 a day. The whole effect is fear.
